tain towns and to authorize penalties for violations. [H 529]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. The governing body of any town having a population of more
than three thousand but less than five thousand and which is located
within a county having a population of more than fifty thousand but less
than fifty-five thousand, shall have power to pass ordinances making it
unlawful for any person to wilfully trespass upon the watershed of any
stream, lake, pond or reservoir, or to boat, fish, hunt, gun or skate, in,
on or over the waters of any stream, lake, pond or reservoir, used as, or
in connection with, the public water supply of such town, without the
consent in writing of such town or of the water supply company, owning
such watershed, stream, lake, pond or reservoir, or entitled to use the
waters of the same in connection with the water supply of any such town
without respect to whether such stream, lake, pond or reservoir be owned
by any such water supply company.
The ordinance may provide that any person violating the terms of
such ordinance shall be deemed guilty of a misdemeanor and shall be
punished for each offense by a fine of not less than ten dollars nor more
than one hundred dollars, or by imprisonment in jail not exceeding thirty
days, or by both, at the discretion of the court.
