Chap. 344.—An ACT to prohibit certain acts in relation to the property of certain
political subdivisions ; to provide a penalty therefor; and to confer jurisdiction
upon certain courts. [H 397]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. It shall be unlawful for any person to trespass upon, injure,
deface, destroy, conceal, or take the property of any county or city.
Violation hereof shall be a misdemeanor and punished as provided by
law. In any case in which the property of any city lying without the
corporate limits is so trespassed upon, injured, defaced, destroyed, con-
cealed or taken the criminal courts of such city shall have jursidiction to
try any person charged therewith. Provided that the provisions of this
act shall only apply to those cities having a population of less than forty-
four hundred according to the last preceding United States census and
counties contiguous thereto.
