Chap. 307.—An ACT to amend and reenact Sections 2 and 3 of Chapter 357 of
the Acts of Assembly, 1944, approved March 30, 1944, relating to special
stamp for hunting deer or bear in certain counties. {S 212]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1, That sections two and three of chapter three hundred
fifty-seven of the Acts of Assembly, nineteen hundred forty-four,
approved March thirty, nineteen hundred forty-four, be amended
and reenacted as follows:
Section 2. The money received from the sale of the special
stamp in the several counties shall be paid into the general fund of
the respective county, and the net amount thereof received there-
from or so much as may be necessary, shall be used for the pay-
ment of damages to crops by deer and to livestock by bear,
whenever the damage amounts to ten dollars or more. Any per-
son whose crops or livestock are so damaged shall report it promptly
to the game warden of the county in which the damage occurs,
whose duty it is to investigate the matter at once. The governing
body of each such county is authorized to provide for the ascertain-
ment of damages and payment of claims in such manner as it deems
proper.
Section 3. The special stamp herein provided for shall be
obtained from the clerk of the circuit court of the county in which
the license stamp is to be used, and the clerk shall receive the
sum of ten cents for each stamp issued by him. Any violation of the
provisions of this act is a misdemeanor.
