Chap. 299.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding a new section
numbered 3516-2, relating to compensation of certain high constables. [S 80]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1, That the Code of Virginia be amended by adding a new
section numbered thirty-five hundred sixteen-two as follows:
Section 3516-2. Compensation of certain high constables.—
Notwithstanding the provisions of section thirty-five hundred six-
teen, as amended, of the Code of Virginia, in any city having,
according to the last preceding United States census, a population
in excess of one hundred eighty thousand inhabitants, the compen-
sation, exclusive of expenses authorized by the Compensation
Board, of the high constable of such city may, in the calendar
year nineteen hundred forty-eight and thereafter, exceed the
sum of seven thousand five hundred dollars but shall not exceed
the sum of eight thousand five hundred dollars.
