Chap. 220.—An ACT to amend Chapter 375 of the Acts of Assembly of 1946,
approved March 28, 1946, and being a new charter for the city of Radford, by
adding a section numbered 48-a, authorizing the city to levy and collect taxes
on admissions to amusements and to ratify any such levy and collection
heretofore made. [S 227}

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That chapter three hundred seventy-five of the Acts of
Assembly of nineteen hundred forty-six, approved March twenty-
eight, nineteen hundred forty-six, is amended by adding a section
numbered forty-eight-a as follows:
Section 48-a. In addition to the other powers conferred by
law the city shall have the power to impose, levy and collect, in
such manner as its council shall deem expedient, an admission tax
on admissions to any place of amusement, entertainment, per-
formance, exhibition, sport, or athletic event held in the city and
may provide that such tax may be added to and collected with
the price of admission or other charge for such amusement, enter-
tainment, performance, exhibition, sport, or athletic event.
2. That any such tax heretofore levied, imposed or collected
by any ordinance of the city of Radford, and all acts done in pur-
suance of such ordinance or of any amendment thereof are hereby
ratified and confirmed.
3. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
