Chap. 12.—An ACT to amend and reenact Section 10 of Chapter VIII of Chapter
819 of the Acts of Assembly of 1897-98, approved March 3, 1898, which pro-
yee a new charter for the Town of Berryville, the section relating ia Fs
levies.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That section ten of chapter VIII of chapter eight hundred
nineteen of the Acts of Assembly of eighteen hundred ninety-seven-
ninety-eight, approved March three, eighteen hundred ninety-eight,
be amended and reenacted as follows:

Section 10. Subjects of levy; basis of levy—The levy so ordered
may be upon all free male persons within said town over six-
teen years of age, dogs, and on all real estate within said town. which
is not exempted from State taxation, and all such other subjects in
said town as may at the time be assessed with State tax: provided,
that the tax does not exceed two dollars on every one hundred dol-
lars of the value assessed on real and personal property, or fifty
cents per head on each taxable person.
