Chap. 56.—An ACT to authorize the State Hospital Board to grant, convey, release
and quitclaim unto the Virginia Lincoln Corporation all right, title and interest
of the Southwestern State Hospital and the Commonwealth of Virginia in a
certain tract of land near Marion, Virginia, heretofore conveyed under a deed
in which the description is alleged to have been inadequate or erroneous.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Section 1. The State Hospital Board, with the written ap-
proval of the Governor, is authorized and directed, without any further
payment or consideration, to grant, convey, release and quitclaim unto the
Virginia Lincoln Corporation by a proper deed or deeds, executed by its
chairman and under its seal, all the right, title and interest of the South-
western State Hospital and the Commonwealth of Virginia in and to a
certain tract or parcel of land located near the eastern limits of the Town
of Marion, Smyth county, Virginia, northeast of the Southwestern State
Hospital, consisting of thirty-five acres, more or less, known as ‘“‘Hospital
Bottom”, and being the same land which it was intended should be con-
veyed to the Virginia Lincoln Corporation pursuant to the provisions of
chapter three of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred forty-four, a
portion of which land was conveyed to the Southwestern State Hospital
by Charles C. Lincoln and wife, by deed dated August seven, nineteen
hundred twenty-two, and recorded in the office of the clerk of the circuit
court of Smyth county, Virginia, in Deed Book number forty-nine, at
page three hundred sixty, and the residue of which was conveyed to the
Southwestern State Hospital by Z. T. Atkins and wife, by deed dated
April eight, nineteen hundred twenty-four, and of record in said clerk’s
office in Deed Book number fifty-one, page four hundred forty-two, to
both of which deeds so of record reference is hereby made. |
Section 2, The deed herein authorized is for the purpose of cor-
recting an alleged inadequate or erroneous description thereof in chapter
three of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred forty-four and in the
deed heretofore made and delivered pursuant thereto, in which chapter
and deed the whole tract of thirty-five acres, more or less, was described
as having been conveyed to the Southwestern State Hospital by Charles
C. Lincoln and wife ; and this act shall be liberally construed to carry out
such purpose.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
