Chap. 343.—An ACT to authorize the Council of the City of Williamsburg and
the Board of Supervisors of the County of James City to release to Colonial
Williamsburg, Incorporated, its successors and assigns, certain property lo-
cated in the City of Williamsburg, and on which the said City and County
now have a right of use pursuant to contract between the City, County and
Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated. (H B 377]

Whereas, the City of Williamsburg and County of James City, pur-
suant to an act of the General Assembly of Virginia, approved March
twenty-six, nineteen hundred thirty-eight, did by deed dated July seven,
nineteen hundred thirty-eight and recorded July fifteen, nineteen hundred
thirty-eight in Williamsburg Deed Book seventeen, pages two hundred
eighty-three-eighty-eight convey to Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated,
a lot of iand in the said city lying immediately south of the southern wall
of the court house grounds, on the westerly side of England Street and
extending back in a southerly direction to what was formerly Ireland
Street ; and
Whereas, as in said deed provided, the use of the said parcel of
land was limited to a public parking space, to be maintained by the
grantee in good and safe condition and as far as possible in harmony
with the landscaping of the grounds surrounding the said court house
and jail, except as such limitation of use of the property was not to
preclude the construction and maintenance by the grantee, its successors
and assignees, of a road running westerly from South England Street
along the north side of the property so conveyed ; and
Whereas, Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated, now desires to have
the said limitation of use removed so as to enable it to construct an addi-
tion to Williamsburg Lodge;
Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia :
1. That the council of the City of Williamsburg and the board of
supervisors of the County of James City, be, and there are, hereby au-
thorized and empowered to transfer, assign, convey and release unto
Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated, its successors and assignees forever,
all right, title and interest of the said city and county in and to the afore-
mentioned lot of land in the City of Williamsburg, as well as all limita-
tions of use contained in the aforementioned deed; such release by the
city and county to be made for such consideration or considerations as
the governing bodies of said city and county and the grantee may mu-
tually agree upon.
