Chap. 244.—-An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 4743 of the Code of Virginia,
as amended, in relation to the disposal of certain maimed, diseased, disabled
and infirm animals, and the bodies of dead animals. [S B 228]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section forty-seven hundred and forty-three of the Code
of Virginia, as amended, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 4743. If any person cast any dead animal into a road, or
knowingly permit any dead animal to remain unburied upon his property
when offensive to the public, or having in custody any maimed, diseased,
disabled or infirm animal, leaves it to lie or be in a street, road or public
place, he shall be fined not exceeding twenty dollars; and if any person en-
gaged in the regular business of using or disposing of or rendering dead
animals shall transport any dead animal, other than those killed for human
consumption, along a public road or street without the same being fully
covered with a heavy canvas or other material of like nature, or when
from such dead animal or the vehicle in or upon which it is being trans-
ported an offensive odor emanates, he shall be fined not less than five
dollars nor more than one hundred dollars.
