Chap. 209.—An ACT to provide for the disposition and use of the Law Library
and Law Library furniture of the Supreme Court of Appeals at Wytheville,
Virginia, [H B 45]
Approved March 23, 1946
Whereas, by chapter three hundred thirty-two of the Acts of nine-
teen hundred forty-four, the General Assembly of Virginia amended
Code, section fifty-eight hundred sixty-six, so as to eliminate the sessions
of the Supreme Court of Appeals formerly held at Wytheville, effective
July one, nineteen hundred forty-six ; and
Whereas, the Law Library, maintained at Wytheville under the
management of the Supreme Court of Appeals, has been used by the
judge of the circuit court of Wythe county and the judges and members
of the bar of that section of Virginia, who are desirous to continue the
use of said library for themselves and the public generally ;
Therefore, Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the management and control of the Law Library and ap-
propriate furniture be, and the same is, hereby transferred to the custody
and control of the judge of the circuit court of Wythe county for the use
of the judges, members of the bar and the public. Provided, however,
before such transfer is actually made, the Supreme Court of Appeals,
through its Law Librarian, shall cause a complete list of the books and
furnishings to be made in duplicate, one to be delivered to the judge of
the circuit court of Wythe county and the other to be kept in a permanent
file in the Law Library in Richmond. From this list, the Supreme Court
of Appeals may select such books as it may deem advisable to be trans-
ferred to the Law Library in Richmond, Virginia. ,
2. When in the opinion of the Supreme Court of Appeals this
library and its furnishings are no longer used for the purposes designated
above, they shall be returned to the Law Library of the Supreme Court
of Appeals at Richmond, Virginia.
