Chap. 208.—An ACT to designate and authorize the State Department of Health
to accept certain Federal grants under certain conditions; and to provide for
the deposit and disbursing thereof. [S B 253]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Section 1. The State Department of Health is hereby author-
ized to apply for and accept on behalf of the State, with the written con-
sent and approval of the Governor first obtained, Federal grants or ad-
vances for the construction of public and other non-profit hospitals and
related facilities, such grants or advances under rules, regulations or
plans adopted by the said Department to be expended, disbursed or allo-
cated in accordance with the purposes for which such grants or dona-
tions were made; the Department is hereby designated as the sole agency
of the State to accept, allocate, and disburse such funds, to supervise
the execution of all plans for such hospitals and related facilities and to
certify whether or not same qualify under the terms of any such grant.
The funds so granted or advanced shall be deposited in the State
treasury in a special fund and paid out on warrants of the Comptroller
on vouchers signed by the State Health Commissioner.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
