Chap. 2.—An ACT to amend an act entitled “An act to provide a new charter for
the City of Alexandria, Virginia.”, approved March 24, 1932, as amended, by
adding a new section, numbered 16-c, relating to jurisdiction, powers, duties
and compensation of the judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court
elected by the people. [S B 26]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That an act entitled “An act to provide a new charter for the
City of Alexandria, Virginia.”, approved March twenty-four, nineteen
hundred thirty-two, as amended, be further amended by adding there-
to a new section, numbered sixteen-c, as follows:
Section 16-c. Jurisdiction, duties, powers and compensation of
judge of Juvenile Domestic Relations Court elected by the people.—
The judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations Court elected by the
people shall have, within the corporate limits and without same as far as
authorized by law, the jurisdiction, powers and duties conferred or im-
posed by general law upon judges of Juvenile and Domestic Relations
Courts appointed or elected by the governing bodies of cities.
The council of the city is authorized and empowered to prescribe
and pay such salary to the judge of the Juvenile and Domestic Relations
Court elected by the people as it may fix, the amount of which shall not
be diminished during his term of office.
2. An emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
