Chap. 103.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1 of Chapter 82 of the Acts
of Assembly of 1938, approved March 8, 1938, relating to the composition of the
Virginia State Planning Board. [S B 144]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section one of chapter eighty-two of the Acts of Assembly
of nineteen hundred thirty-eight, approved March eight, nineteen hun-
dred thirty-eight, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1. There is hereby created a planning board to be known
as the Virginia State Planning Board, hereinafter referred to in this
act as the Board. The Board shall consist of twelve members appointed
by the Governor, within four months after he takes office, whose terms
of office shall begin at the time designated by the Governor, and who
shall hold office at the pleasure of the Governor. Six members of the
Board shall be chosen from the executive heads of the State administra-
tive departments and the chiefs of divisions within these departments,
and six, one of whom shall serve as chairman, shall be citizens of the
State not heads of State administrative departments or chiefs of divisions
within these departments, one of whom shall be a representative of the
agricultural department of the Virginia Polytechnic Institute. Vacancies
in the membership of the Board shall be filled by the Governor. The
Governor shall designate one member of the Board to act as chairman
and another as vice-chairman.
