Chap. 405.—An ACT to permit members of the governing body of certain counties
to enter into or have an interest in certain contracts with, or claims ee
their counties.
Approved March 31, 1944
Re it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary in
any county having an area of not less than three hundred forty-four
square miles nor more than three hundred fifty-three square miles and a
population of not less than sixteen thousand nor more than eighteen
thousand according to the latest preceding United States census, the dis-
trict home board of any district home established as provided by law may
enter into contracts with an undertaker or funeral home within the dis-
trict for furnishing coffins. preparing for burial or burying paupers who
die in the home even though the undertaker, or one of the persons owning
an interest or being otherwise interested in the funeral home with whom
or which any such contract is made, is a member of the governing body
of one of the counties included in the district and the pauper to be buried
was sent to the home from such county.
