Chap. 301.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 1 and 4 of an act entitled
“An Act to provide for the relief of volunteer firemen of Fairfax county killed
or injured while engaged in fighting fires or in going to or returning there-
from.”, approved March 24, 1930, so as to broaden the scope of the relief
provided. [H 395]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That sections one and four of an act entitled “An Act to pro-
vide for the relief of volunteer firemen of Fairfax county killed or in-
jured while engaged in fighting fires or in going to or returning there-
from.”, approved March twenty-four, nineteen hundred thirty, be
amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1. Financial relief shall be extended by the county of Fair-
fax to volunteer firemen who are killed or injured while engaged in
fighting fire, while responding to an alarm or returning from the scene
of a fire, while engaged in work on the fire fighting apparatus at the
fire station or testing the apparatus, or while participating in parades
or drills, such relief to be paid in amounts and manner as hereinafter set
forth.
Section 4. Should any volunteer firemen be killed while actually en-
gaged in fighting fire, or while going to a fire in answer to an alarm or
returning therefrom, or be killed in connection with work on the fire
fighting apparatus at the fire station or testing the apparatus, or while
participating in parades or drills, the board of supervisors of the county
shall pay to his personal representative for the benefit of his estate the
sum of thirty-five hundred dollars.
