Chap. 266.—An ACT to provide for an addition to the regular cash payments made
to certain retired public school teachers out of the Virginia Retirement System
fund, and to appropriate funds to carry out the provisions of this act. [S 102]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia :
1. Section 1. On and after July first, nineteen hundred forty-four,
each retired public school teacher who retired prior to the date that chap-
ter three hundred twenty-five of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hun-
dred forty-two, and known as the Virginia Retirement Act, became ef-
fective and who receives a retirement allowance in accordance with the
provisions of that act which is less than three hundred dollars per annum,
shall be entitled to and shall receive, at the time any portion of such re-
tirement allowance is paid, an addition to each such payment which shall
be in such amount that the retirement allowance and the addition thereto
computed on an annual basis shall be not less than three hundred dollars.
Section 2. The additional retirement allowance authorized by this
act shall be paid out of the Virginia Retirement System fund established
under the provisions of the Virginia Retirement Act for the benefit of
retired public school teachers.
2. In order to carry out the provisions of this act there is hereby
appropriated to the Virginia Retirement System fund, out of the general
fund in the State treasury, a sum sufficient, estimated for the first year
of the biennium at sixty-two thousand dollars, and for the second year
of the biennium at sixty thousand dollars.
