Chap. 207.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Sections 1, and 9 as amended, of an
Act entitled “An act to establish a corporation court for the city of Ne ewport
News.”, approved January 23, 1896, relating to terms of court and compensa-
tion of judge. [H 339]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That sections one, and nine as amended, of an act entitled “An
Act to establish a corporation court for the city of Newport News.”.
approved January twenty-third, eighteen hundred ninety-six, be amended
and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1. There shall be established for the city of Newport News
a corporation or hustings court, to be held by the judge of the city, on
the second Monday in each month, but the judge of the court may from
time to time change the day on which the court shall commence; pro-
vided that no term shall be held in the month of August.
Section 9. The judge of the corporation court shall receive an
annual salary, payable as provided by law; and the judge shall qualify by
taking the oath required by law within thirty days after he receives his
commission, the oath to be taken by any notary public or any clerk of
any court of record.
