Chap. 189.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1703 of the Code of Virginia
relating to Compositon and appointment of the State Board of Examiners
of Graduate Nurses. [S 128}

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section seventeen hundred three of the Code of Virginia be
amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1703. Appointment of Board; terms; vacancies.—The State
Board of Examiners of Graduate Nurses composed of five members, is
continued, and the members in office when this amendment takes etfect
shall continue therein until the end of their respective terms. Upon the
expiration of the respective terms the Governor shall appoint a succes-
sor, who shall be a registered graduate nurse, to each person whose term
of office has expired, to hold office for five years. No person except the
Secretary of the Board shall be eligible to serve more than two suc-
cessive terms nor shall more than two members of the Board be persons
engaged in teaching in any training school for nurses. The Graduate
Nurses Association of Virginia may submit recommendations to the
Governor for appointment to any vacancy on the Board but the Gov-
ernor shall not be limited in appointment to those so recommended. In
case the appointment of a successor 1s not made before the expiration
of the term of any member, such member shall hold office until a suc-
cessor is appointed and duly qualified. Any vacancy occurring in mem-
bership of the board shall be filled by the Governor for the unexpired
term of such membership. The Governor may remove any member ot
the Board for misconduct, incapacity, or neglect of duty, and he shall b
the sole judge of the sufficiency of the cause for removal. He shall repor
every such removal at once to the General Assembly if it is in session, anc
if not at the beginning of the next session.
