Chap. 184.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 566 of the Code of Virginia,
as amended, relating to the composition and appointment of the State Board
of Accountancy. [H 266]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section five hundred sixty-six of the Code of Virginia, as
amended, be amended and re-enacted. as follows:
Section 566. State Board of Accountancy, number and qualifications
of members, vacancies—(a) The State Board of Accountancy, as cre-
ated by chapter one hundred fifty-eight of the Acts of Assembly of nine-
teen hundred ten, is continued, and shall consist of five members to be ap-
pointed by the Governor for terms of five years. and all vacancies occur-
ring on the Board shall be filled by the Governor.
(b) The terms of present incumbents shall expire on June thirty,
nineteen hundred forty-four and the Governor shall appomt their suc-
cessors on or before July one, nineteen hundred forty-four as follows:
one for a term to expire five years; one for a term to expire four years;
one for a term to expire three years; one for a term to expire two years;
and one for a term to expire one year, from June thirty, nineteen hundred
forty-four.
(c) Thereafter as the terms of office respectively of the members ex-
pire by limitation the Governor shall appoint, to fill the vacancies so oc-
casioned, qualified persons whose terms shall be for five years from the
day on which that of their immediate predecessors expired.
(d) One member of the Board shall be a practicing attorney in
good standing in any of the courts of this State; one an educator, and
the other three practicing certified public accountants who shall have been
actively engaged in such practice, for at least three years next preceding
their appointment, and who hold certified public accountants certificates
issued by the State Board of Accountancy.
(e) No person shall be eligible to serve for or during more than two
successive terms, and incumbency during the current term when this
amendment takes effect constitutes the first of the two successive terms
with respect to eligibility for appointment.
({) The Governor may remove any member of the Board for mis-
conduct, incapacity, or neglect of duty and he shall be the sole judge of
the sufficiency of the cause for removal. He shall report every such re-
moval at once to the General Assembly if it is in session, and 1f not at
the beginning of the next session.
