Chap. 173.—An ACT to eliminate the roads, streets, causeways, bridges, landings
and wharves in certain towns from the secondary system of State highways
and to vest jurisdiction and control over them in the local authorities. [S 13]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That whenever any incorporated town has more than thirty-five
hundred inhabitants according to the last preceding United States census,
all the roads, streets, causeways, bridges, landings and wharves in such
town theretofore incorporated within the secondary system of State
highways shall be eliminated from such system and the control and juris-
diction over them shall be vested in the local authorities. This act shall
in no way affect the rights of such towns to receive the benefits pro-
vided for by section nine of chapter four hundred fifteen, Acts of As-
sembly of nineteen hundred thirty-two, as amended.
