Chap. 164.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 3194 of the Code of Virginia,
relating to relief of oyster planters from rent under certaim circumstances,
so as to broaden the scope of the provisions for relief. [H 280]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia :
1. That section thirty-one hundred ninety-four of the Code of Vir-
ginia be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 3194. Relief from rent on account of certain gills in oysters,
and on bottoms taken by the United States, or polluted.—Authority 1s
hereby given to the Commission of Fisheries to determine all applications
made to it by any ovster planter for relief on account of the green gills,
bloody gills. black gills. or ovsters too poor for market: and any planter
may be relieved from further payment of rent on any oyster bottom
taken by the United States or closed by reason of pollution caused by
any temporary army or navy station, until the bottom 1s released by the
State Board of Health as being no longer polluted. and the Commission
of Fisheries is vested with full power and directions to give relicf if im
its discretion such should be done by suspending the collection of rent
toa given date.
_ If application be made to the Commission of Fisheries, the Com-
mission, in 1ts annual report to the Governor, shall give the results of
the conclusions reached and reasons therefor.
