Chap. 15.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 6 of an act entitled “An Act
to incorporate the town of Franklin, Southampton County.”, approved March
15, 1876, relating to powers and authority of the town sergeant. {H 43}

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That section six of an act entitled “An Act to incorporate the
town of Franklin, Southampton County.”, approved March fifteen, eight-
een hundred seventy-six, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 6. That the sergeant of the town shall be a conservator of the
peace, and be invested with the full powers of a constable within the limits
of the town and within the parts of Southampton County that lie within
one mile of the corporate limits of the town; he shall collect the town
taxes, and may distrain and sell therefor; he shall perform such other
duties and receive such compensation as the council may prescribe.
