Chap. 123.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 2799 of the Code of Virginia,
as amended, relating to salaries of superintendents of the poor. [H 120]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:

1. That section twenty-seven hundred ninety-nine of the Code otf
Virginia, as amended, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:

Section 2799. Salaries of Superintendents of the Poor.—The govern-
ing bodies of counties shall allow superintendents of the poor reasonable
compensation for their services, as follows: in cdlinties having a popula-
tion (1) of less than ten thousand, a salary of not less than two hundred
and forty nor more than four hundred and eighty dollars a year, (2) of
not less than ten thousand nor more than twenty thousand, a salary of
not less than three hundred and sixty nor more than nine hundred dol-
lars a year, and (3) of more than twenty thousand, a salary of not less
than four hundred eighty nor more than nine hundred and sixty dollars
a year. .

4 2. That an emergency exists and this act is in force from its passage.
