Chap. 113.—An ACT to transfer the jurisdiction and control of certain parcels of
land in Smyth County from the Commission of Game and Inland Fisheries to
the State Highway Commission, and to authorize the latter agency to use said
lands as a part of State Highway Route No. 16. [S 117]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That the jurisdiction and control of those two certain parcels of
land lying and being situate in Smyth County, hereinafter particularly
described, be, and the same are hereby, transferred from the Commission
of Game and Inland Fisheries to the State Highway Commission, which
is hereby authorized to use the same as a part of State Highway Route
Number Sixteen. Said parcels of land are described as follows:
Parcel Number One: Beginning at a corner in the lands of Marion
Brick Company, and W. S. Robinson Estate, and the Commission of
Game and Inland Fisheries, said corner being in the northerly right of
way line of State Highway Route Number Sixteen, and sixty-five feet
distant from the survey and plan centerline of said highway as shown on
plans for State Highway Route Number Sixteen, Project seven hundred
fifty-seven-D two, on file in the Office of the Department of Highways at
Richmond, Virginia, at or near Sta. one hundred six plus ninety; thence
with the line between Robinson Estate and the Commission of Game and
Inland Fisheries, which line is the center of the old road, (1) south-
easterly one hundred five feet, more or less, to a point forty feet distant
northerly from said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred seven plus
ninety-two; (2) southeasterly one hundred feet, more or less, to a point
thirty-five feet distant northerly from said centerline at or near Sta. one
hundred eight plus ninety and three-tenths; (3) southeasterly one hun-
dred ten feet, more or less, to a point forty feet distant northerly from
said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred ten plus nothing; and (4)
westerly one hundred twenty-eight feet, more or less, to a point in the
said right of way line; sixty-five feet distant northerly from said
centerline at or near Sta. one hundred eleven plus thirty-five ; thence with
the said right of way line, westerly (1) one hundred seventy-seven feet,
more or less, to a point fifty-five feet distant northerly from said cen-
terline at or near Sta. one hundred thirteen plus eighteen and six-tenths
back equal Sta. one hundred twelve plus ninety-one and eight-tenths
ahead; and (2) forty-one feet, more or less, to a point in the line of
Parker, forty-five feet distant northerly from said centerline at or near
Sta. one hundred thirteen plus thirty-one; thence with the line of Parker
and across the old Marion and Rye Valley Railroad right of way, former-
ly belonging to Clay S. Sayers, and with the line of Killinger, southerly
ninety feet, more or less, to a point in the southerly right of way line of
the said route and project, forty-five feet distant southerly from said
centerline at or near Sta. one hundred thirteen plus thirty-one, crossing
the said centerline at or near the same Station; thence with the last right
of way line, westerly (1) thirty-nine and two-tenths feet, more or less,
to a point forty-five feet distant southerly from said centerline at or near
Sta. one hundred twelve plus ninety-one and eight-tenths ahead equal
Sta. one hundred thirteen plus eighteen and six-tenths back; (2) a curve
to the right four hundred thirty feet, more or less, to a point thirty feet
distant southerly from said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred eight
plus ninety and three-tenths; and (3) two hundred eight feet, more or
less, to a point in the said line of Marion Brick Company, seventy-two
féet distant southerly from said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred
six plus eighty-four ; thence with the said line of Marion Brick Company,
northeasterly one hundred thirty-seven feet, more or less, to the begin-
ning, crossing said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred six plus ninety-
one, and containing one and forty-three-one-hundredths acres, more or
less, and being shown on sheet number fifteen of plans for the said route
and project.
Parcel Number Two: Beginning at a point in the former line of
Southwestern State Hospital nine feet, more or less distant northerly
from the survey and plan centerline of State Highway Route Number
Sixteen as shown on plans for State Highway Number Sixteen, Project
seven hundred fifty-seven-D two, on file in the office of Department of
Highways, at Richmond, Virginia ; thence with the said former line,
northerly nine feet, more or less, to a point in the former southerly night
of way line of the old Marion and Rye Valley Railroad; thence with the
last right of way line, easterly (1) four hundred seventy-eight feet, more
or less, to a point five feet distant northerly from said centerline at or
near Sta. one hundred tw enty-five plus thirty-eight ; and (2) a curve to
the right two hundred ninety-six feet, more or less, to a point on said
centerline at or near Sta. one hundred twenty-eight plus thirty-four and
in the center of the old road; thence with the center of the old road,
westerly (1) two hundred fifty-three feet, more or less, to a point five feet,
more or less, distant southerly from said centerline at or near Sta. one
hundred twenty-five plus eighty-one, said corner being in the former line
of Killinger; (2) two hundred seventy-one feet, more or less, to a point
five feet distant southerly from said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred
twenty-three plus nothing; and (3) two hundred fifty-six feet, more or
less, to the beginning, crossing said centerline at or near Sta. one hundred
twenty-two plus twenty-five, and containing sixteen-one-hundredth acre,
more or less, and being shown on sheet number sixteen of plans for the
said route and project.
