Chap. 107,—An ACT to amend and re-enact Chapter 472 of the Acts of Assembly
of 1942, approved April 6, 1942, relating to special licenses to hunt bear and
deer in Bath county, and to make any violation of the provisions of the chapter
a misdemeanor. ; [H 163]

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia:
1. That chapter four hundred seventy-two of the Acts of Assembly
of nineteen hundred forty-two, approved April sixth, nineteen hundred
forty-two, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1. It shall be unlawful for any person to hunt bear or deer
in Bath county without first having obtained a special stamp the fee for
which shall be one dollar annually. The stamp shall be adhesively af-
fixed to the back of the season’s hunting license issued such person who
shall cancel the same with his initials in ink.
Section 2. The money received from the sale of such special stamp
in such county shall be paid into the game protection fund and the net
amount thereof, or so much as is necessary, shall be used for the payment
of damages to crops by deer and to livestock by bear in Bath county
whenever such damage amounts to ten dollars or more. Such payments
shall be limited to the net amount accruing to the commission from the
sales of such special stamps during the license year in which the damage
occurred. Any person whose crops are damaged by deer, or whose live-
stock is damaged by bear, shall report the same promptly to the game
warden of the county, whose duty it shall be to investigate the same at
once. The claim for damages shall be filed in duplicate under oath on
forms furnished by the commission. If the claimant and game warden
agree as to the amount of damage the game warden shall approve the
claim and forward it to the commission. If no such agreement is reached
between them the claim shall be submitted to the arbitration of three
persons in the customary manner and the award of the arbitrators shall
be final and binding.
Section 3. The special stamp herein provided shall be obtained from
the clerk of the circuit court of Bath county and the commission shall
pay the clerk the sum of ten cents for each such stamp issued by him. Any
violation of the provisions of this act shall be deemed a misdemeanor.
