Chap. 77.—An ACT to authorize and empower the State Highway Commissione
to execute in the name of the Commonwealth deeds conveying residue parcel
of land deemed unnecessary for the uses of the Blue Ridge Parkway ; provide:
that such conveyances shall be approved by the State Highway Commission by
resolution duly adopted and recorded in the minutes of the said Commission

Whereas, in acquiring rights of way for and scenic easements ot
the Blue Ridge Parkway, it is sometimes necessary and cheaper for the
State Highway Commissioner to acquire more land than is needed fot
said rights of way and scenic easements, due to the fact that only limited
access roads are allowed on said Parkway rights of way and scenic ease-
ments ; and , , ,
Whereas, the additional lands so purchased by the State Highway
Commissioner, not needed for rights of way or scenic easements on the
Blue Ridge Parkway, are of no value or use for Parkway purposes, and it
is deemed advisable to sell said residue parcels of land to the United
States of America for Forest Service purposes or to such other party
or parties as might be desirable;
Now, Therefore, Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia
as follows: ~ ,
Section 1. The State Highway Commissioner be and he is hereby
authorized and empowered, on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia,
from time to time, to sell and convey by proper deed, to the purchaser or
purchasers thereof, upon such terms and conditions as to the said Com-
missioner may seem best, such tract or tracts of land so acquired and not
needed for Blue Ridge Parkway purposes; provided, however, that any
such conveyance shall have the approval of the State Highway Commis-
sion by resolution recorded in the minutes of the meeting of the Com-
mission.
_ section 2. All monies received from the sale of such property
shall be paid into the State treasury to the credit of the State Highway
Commission.
Section 3. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from
its passage.
