Chap. 416.—An ACT for the relief of Orlany Boothe and her two minor —

Whereas Roy Wesley Boothe of the city of Roanoke, while serving
as a member of Camp number twenty-four of the State convict road force
near Moneta, Virginia, was injured by a falling tree while employed in
line of duty, and died on January seventeenth, nineteen hundred and
forty-one, as a result of such injury; and
Whereas, he was survived by his widowed mother Orlany Boothe,
and by a brother Claude Boothe who is now twelve years of age, and a
sister Hilery Boothe who is fourteen years age, all of whom are being
cared for by the Department of Public Welfare of the city of Roanoke and
are in need of financial assistance, and it seems just and proper that the
State of Virginia should contribute a reasonable sum towards their
support and maintenance ; now, therefore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That there
is hereby appropriated for the support and maintenance of Orlany
Boothe, the sum of twenty-five dollars ($25.00) a month during the next
biennium to the Department of Public Welfare of the city of Roanoke
to be used by that department solely for the benefit and maintenance of
Orlany Boothe and her infant children. All payments authorized herein
shall be made by the Treasurer of Virginia out of the general fund in the
State treasury on warrants of the Comptroller.
