Chap. 367.——An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1, Section 6 as heretofore
amended, and Section 10 of an act entitled “An Act to incorporate the town of
Boone Mill, in the County of Franklin, Virginia.”, approved April 11, 1927, so
as to, among other things, change the name of said town to Boones Mill.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
one, section six, as heretofore amended, and section ten of an act en-
titled “An Act to incorporate the town of Boone Mill, in the County of
Franklin, Virginia.”, approved April eleventh, nineteen hundred and
twenty-seven, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1. The inhabitants of the territory contained within the
boundaries prescribed in the second section of this act are hereby de-
clared to be a body politic and corporate under the name and style of the
town of Boones Mill; and as such shall have and exercise all the powers
and be subject to all the limitations conferred and imposed upon towns
by general law, except as otherwise provided by this act.
Section 6. The mayor shall be the chief executive officer of the
town, and it shall be his duty to see that all the by-laws and ordinances of
the town are obeyed and complied with. The mayor shall have no author-
ity to try any warrant, either civil or criminal, or for violation of any
town ordinance, unless such authority be conferred upon him in the
manner prescribed by law. A majority of all the members of the Council
shall always constitute a quorum for the transaction of business: The
mayor shall preside over all meetings of the Council, when present, and
in his absence, the members present shall select one of their members to
preside over the meeting; who shall, for that purpose, have like power
and authority as the mayor. :
Section 10. All property, real and personal within the corporate
limits of the town, as herein defined, except such as is segregated by law
for State taxation exclusively, shall be subject to the annual levies of the
town.
