Chap. 366.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 2704-a of the Code of Virginia,
relating to residence requirements of certain county officers. [fH B 413]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
twenty-seven hundred and four-a of the Code of Virginia be amended
and re-enacted, as follows: ’
Section 2704-a. Residence requirements in certain counties.—Not-
withstanding the provisions of section twenty-seven hundred and three
in any county having a population of more than twenty-five thousand and
less than thirty thousand inhabitants, and having within its geographical
boundaries a city having a population of more than ten thousand and
less than eleven thousand inhabitants, according to the last preceding
United States census, no person shall hereafter be eligible for election or
appointment to any county office to serve the county alone and not to
serve any city within the geographical.boundaries of such county, unless
such person shall have been a resident of the county for at least six
months immediately preceding such election or appointment.
If any officer, required by this section to reside in the county for
which he is elected or appointed, remove therefrom, his office shall be
deemed vacant.
