Chap. 333.—-An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1080-a of the Code of Virginia,
as amended, relating to the appointment of guardians and committees in certain
cases. [H B 283]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
one thousand and eighty-a of the Code of Virginia, as amended, be
amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 1080-a. On the petition of any person in interest to the
circuit court of the county or the corporation court or circuit court of the
city, in which any person, who by reason of advanced age or impaired
health, or physical disability, has become mentally and/or physically in-
capable of taking proper care of his person and/or properly handling and
managing his estate, resides, such court, or the judge thereof in vacation
aiter reasonable notice to such person, and after hearing on such petition
if convinced that such person is incapacitated to the extent above men-
tioned, may appoint some suitable person to be the guardian or commit-
tee of the person and property of such person so incapacitated, and such
guardian or committee shall have the same rights and duties which per-

tain to guardians of the person and property of minors, and shall give
such bond as may be required by such court ot judge. On the hearing
of any such petition the court shall appoint a guardian ad litem to repre-
sent the interest of the person for whom a committee or guardian is re-
quested, and such guardian ad litem shall be paid such fee as may be fixed
by the court to be taxed as a part of the costs of such proceeding.
The Chancery Court of the City of Richmond, or the judge thereof
in vacation, shall have exclusive jurisdiction to appoint a guardian or
committee under this section for any person who resides in any part of
the territory of the City of Richmond which lies on the north side of the
James River. _ ,
