county to refund to C. C. Lynn certain taxes erroneously assessed against, anc
paid by him on, a certain tract of land in said county, for the years 1929 to 1936

Whereas, in the month of January, nineteen hundred and twenty
eight, C. C. Lynn purchased a tract of land, containing eleven hundrec
and twenty acres, in Prince William county, and the same was errone
ously transferred to him on the county land books as eleven hundred anc
twenty-one acres, and assessed at thirteen dollars an acre, making a gros.
valuation of fourteen thousand five hundred and seventy-three dollars
but the commissioner of the revenue erroneously extended a gross valu
of fifteen thousand, eight hundred and twenty-three dollars on the lan
book; and : |
Whereas, the taxes were assessed on this erroneous valuation, an
paid by C. C. Lynn, for the years nineteen hundred and twenty-nine t
nineteen hundred and thirty-six, inclusive, from the time of his purchase
until he sold the land, involving an overpayment in the amount of one
hundred, seventy-four dollars and ninety-eight cents ($174.98), accord:
ing to statements of the treasurer and commissioner of the revenue of
Prince William county ; and
Whereas, it appears that the board of supervisors of Prince William
county should be authorized to correct such error and refund the amount
so erroneously paid by said C. C. Lynn, if, in the discretion of said board,
it is deemed proper so to do; now, therefore,
I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
board of supervisors of Prince William county is authorized to refund
to C. C. Lynn the amount of one hundred, seventy-four dollars and ninety-
eight cents ($174.98), the aggregate amount of the taxes improperly
assessed against and paid by him, as in the preambles hereto set forth.
