Chap. 298.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new
section numbered 6071-a, relating to orders of publication in proceedings to en-
force liens for taxes assessed upon real estate. [H B 374]

I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Code of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section numbered
six thousand and seventy-one-a, which new section shall read as follows:
Section 6071-a. Whenever an order of publication is entered, in any
proceeding brought by any county, city or town to enforce a lien for taxes
assessed upon real estate, such order need not be published more than once
a week for two successive weeks. The publication shall in other respects
conform to sections six thousand and sixty-nine and six thousand and
seventy of this Code. When such publication so conforms the provisions
of section six thousand and seventy-one shall apply, except that the ten
days therein provided for appearance by defendants or unknown parties
shall, as to any order published only two weeks under this section, com-
mence to run after the expiration of the two weeks required for the com-
pletion of such publication.
Zz. An emergency exists, and this act shall be in force from its pass-
age.
