1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion twenty-seven hundred and seventy-three of the Code of Virginia, as
heretofore amended, be amended and re-enacted, as follows:
Section 2773. Salary of clerks.—Such clerk shall receive a reason-
able compensation for his services as clerk of the board not to exceed in
any one year the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars, and the clerks of
the boards of supervisors of the counties of Augusta, Rockingham and
Wise may, in the discretion of said boards receive a salary not exceeding
nine hundred dollars per annum, and the clerks of the boards of super-
visors of the counties of Amelia, Bath, Highland, Dinwiddie, Lee, Gray-
son, Buchanan, Russell, Prince George, Surry, Pulaski and Nottoway
may, in the discretion of the said boards, receive a salary of not exceed-
ing three hundred dollars per annum; and the clerk of the board of super-
visors of the county of Culpeper may, in the discretion of said board,
receive a salary not to exceed the sum of six hundred dollars per year.
