CHAP. 254.—An ACT to amend the Code of Virginia by adding thereto a new section
numbered 3032-c, providing that the officers, agents and employees of counties,
cities and towns may in emergencies go or be sent, together with necessary
equipment, beyond the territorial limits of such counties, cities or towns, and in
such cases preserving to such counties, cities and towns and to such officers,
agents and employees the privileges and immunities enjoyed when such officers,
agents or employees are acting for a public purpose within the territorial limits
of such counties, cities or towns. [H B 378]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
ode of Virginia be amended by adding thereto a new section numbered
hree thousand and thirty-two-c, which new section shall read as follows:
Section 3032-c. Whenever the necessity arises during any emer-
ency resulting from the existence of a state of war, or from internal
isorder, or from fire, flood, epidemic or other public disaster, the police-
1en, firemen and other officers, agents and employees of any county,
ity or town may, together with all necessary equipment. lawfully oo or
be sent beyond the territorial limits of such county, city or town to any
point within the Commonwealth, to assist in meeting such emergency.
In such event the acts performed for such purpose by such police-
men, firemen, or other officers, agents or employees, and the expenditures
made for such purpose by such county, city or town, shall be deemed
conclusively to be for a public and governmental purpose and all of the
immunities from liability enjoyed by a county, city or town when acting
through its policemen, firemen or other officers, agents or employees for
a public or governmental purpose within its territorial limits shall be
enjoyed by it to the same extent when such county, city or town is so
acting, under this section or under other lawful authority, beyond its
territorial limits.
The policemen, firemen and other officers, agents and employees of
any county, city or town, when acting hereunder, or under other lawful
authority, beyond the territorial limits of such county, city or town, shall
have all of the immunities from liability and exemptions from laws, ordi-
nances and regulations, and shall have all of the pension, relief, disability,
workmen’s compensation and other benefits, enjoyed by them while per-
forming their respective duties within the territorial limits of such county,
city or town.
2. Anemergency exists and this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
