Chap. 195.—An ACT to authorize the State Highway Commissioner to accept from
the United States, or any department or agency thereof, grants of land upon
which the United States has constructed any recreational waysides ; to contract
with the United States, or any such agency, to maintain and operate same out
of any funds available, and to authorize the Highway Department to establish,
construct, and maintain similar recreational waysides. [S B 214]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, as follows:
The State Highway Commissioner is hereby authorized whenever
in his opinion it is to the best interests of the State highway system, to
accept from the United States, or any authorized agency thereof, a grant
or grants of any recreational waysides heretofore established and con-
structed by the United States, or any such agency thereof, and the said
Highway Commissioner is hereby authorized on behalf of the Common-
wealth to enter into a contract or contracts with the United States or
any such agency to maintain and operate any such recreational waysides
which may be so granted to the Commonwealth.
2. The State Highway Commissioner is hereby authorized, with
the approval of the State Highway Commission, whenever it is to the best
interest of the operation of the State highway system, to establish, con-
struct, maintain, and operate adjacent to the State highway appropriate
recreational waysides.
3. Said recreational waysides, when so acquired, established, main-
tained, and operated shall be deemed to be a part of the State Highway
