Chap. 327.—An ACT to amend Chapter 342 of the Acts of the General Assembly
of 1932, approved March 26, 1932, and known, designated and cited as the Motor
Vehicle Code of Virginia, by adding thereto a new section numbered 52-a, pre-
scribing maximum speeds at which motor vehicles may be driven in certain
cities and prescribing penalties for violations of the provisions of the section,
and add two new paragraphs (e) and (f) to Section 67 pertaining to special
regulations applicable on streets and highways laned for traffic. [H B 470]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That
chapter three hundred and forty-two of the Acts of the General
Assembly of nineteen hundred and thirty-two, approved March
twenty-sixth, nineteen hundred and thirty-two, and known, desig-
nated and cited as the Motor Vehicle Code of Virginia, be amended
by adding thereto a new section numbered fifty-two-a, which new
section shall read as follows:
Section 52-a. Notwithstanding any other provision of this act to
the contrary, no person shall drive in this State upon any highway in
any city having a population in excess of one hundred and seventy
thousand any motor vehicle at a speed in excess of thirty-five miles
an hour; the provisions of this section shall, however, be subject to
the exceptions contained in section sixty-four of this act. Any person
driving any motor vehicle upon any such highway in any such city in
violation of the provisions of this section shall be guilty of a mis-
demeanor and upon conviction shall be punished in accordance with
the provisions of section one hundred and eighteen of this act.
Section 67. (e) Wherever a highway is marked with double
traffic lines consisting of a solid line immediately adjacent to a broken
line, no vehicle shall be driven to the left of such line; if the solid line
is on the right of the broken line.
(f) Wherever a highway is marked with double traffic lines con-
sisting of two immediately adjacent solid lines, no vehicle shall be
driven to the left of such lines.
