Chap. 188.—An ACT to authorize the Virginia Conservation Commission, with the
approval of the Governor, and subject to certain conditions, restrictions and
reservations, to lease to responsible organizations or groups of individuals
certain lands or other properties held by it or under its supervision and control,
and to grant certain easements over, upon and across such lands or Pree sai

1. Beit enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, as follows:
Section 1. The Virginia Conservation Commission is hereby
authorized and empowered, subject to the consent and approval of
the Governor, to lease or demise to any responsible organization or
group of individuals, for such consideration and on such terms as it
may prescribe, by proper deed of lease or other appropriate instrument
signed and executed by the chairman and executive secretary of the
said commission, any lands or other properties held by it or over which
it has supervision and control, or any part of parts thereof or right or
interest therein or privilege with respect thereto, provided such land
or other property or right, interest or privilege is not needed by the
commission or the State of Virginia for general recreational or other
public purposes, and provided further that the total area that may be
leased in any one park or recreational area shall not exceed twenty-
five acres. No such lease shall be made for a longer period than five
years but shall be subject to renewal at the discretion of the Governor
and of the commission at the end of the period for which it is made.
Section 2. The Virginia Conservation Commission is further
authorized and empowered, subject to the consent and approval of the
Governor, to grant to any public service corporation for such con-
sideration and on such terms as it may prescribe, by proper deed or
other appropriate instrument signed and executed by the chairman
and executive secretary of the said commission, any easement over,
upon and across any lands or other properties of any kind or character
held by it or over which it has supervision and control, provided such
easement is consistent with and not in derogation of the general pur-
pose for which such land or other property is held. No such easement
shall be granted for a longer term than ten years but shall be subject
to renewal at the discretion of the Governor and of the commission
at the end of the period for which it is granted.
Section 3. Any such lease or grant herein authorized shall be
subject to such further provisions, conditions, restrictions and reser-
vations as may be approved by the Governor and prescribed by the
Virginia Conservation Commission.
