Chap. 112.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 1005 of the Code of Virginia,
as heretofore amended, relating to the location and corporate names of the
State hospitals and colonies and to the State Hospital Board. [S B 71]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That
section ten hundred and five of the Code of Virginia, as heretofore
amended, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 1005. Location and Names of Hospitals and Colonies.—
The several State hospitals for the insane and colonies for the epi-
leptic and feeble-minded shall be continued under the supervision,
management and control of the State Hospital Board; the hospital
at Williamsburg with the name of the ‘‘Eastern State Hospital’; the
hospital at Staunton with the name of the ‘‘Western State Hospital”;
the hospital at Petersburg (established for the reception and treat-
ment of colored persons of unsound mind) with the name of the
“Central State Hospital’; the hospital at Marion with the name of
the ‘“‘Southwestern State Hospital’’; the colony for the care of the
epileptic and feeble-minded at Madison Heights, Amherst county,
heretofore known as the “State Colony for Epileptics and Feeble-
minded’”’, with the name of the ‘‘Lynchburg State Colony”, by
which name it shall be hereafter known and designated; and the
colony for the care of the colored feeble-minded located partly in
Prince George and partly in Dinwiddie counties with the name
“Petersburg State Colony.”’ The State Hospital Board may receive
gifts, bequests and endowments to or for the respective hospitals or
colonies in their names or to or for any person or persons committed
to or in the custody of such hospitals or colonies, and when such
gifts, bequests and endowments are accepted by the said board it
shall well and faithfully administer such trusts.
