Chap. 79.—An ACT to amend:and:re-enact Section 4447 of the Code of Virginia
as heretofore amended, relating to personal property that has been distrainec

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
forty-four hundred and forty-seven of the Code of Virginia, as hereto-
fore amended, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 4447, Selling, et cetera, of goods distrained or levied on
with intent, et cetera, larceny.—If any person fraudulently sell, pledge,
encumber, remove, destroy, receive or secrete any goods, chattels, or
other personal property of any kind whatsoever that has been distrained
or levied on, with intent to defeat such distress or levy, he shall be
deemed guilty of the larceny thereof. And any person who under the
provisions of this section would be guilty of grand larceny, shall, in
the discretion of the jury, be confined in the penitentiary not less than
one year nor more than ten years, or be confined in jail not exceeding
twelve months and fined not exceeding five hundred dollars.
