Chap. 73.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 942 of the Code of Virginia
as heretofore amended, relating to the State Teachers Colleges. [S B 14

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That sectior
nine hundred and forty-two of the Code of Virginia as heretofore
amended, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 942. Property Rights of Boards; Names of Institutions. —
The State Board of Education shall succeed to all the property, property
rights, duties, contracts and agreements formerly controlled by and
vested in the board of trustees of the State female normal school for
women at Farmville, the State normal and industrial school for women
at Harrisonburg, the State normal and industrial school for women at
Fredericksburg, and the State normal and industrial school for women
at Radford, the Virginia normal school board, and the board of the
Virginia teachers colleges. The State female normal school at Farm-
ville shall hereafter be called “the State teachers college at Farmville’.
The name of “the State teachers college at Harrisonburg”, formerly
the State normal and industrial school for women at Harrisonburg, is
nereby changed to “Madison College”. The name of “the State teachers
college at Fredericksburg”, formerly the State normal and industrial
school for women at Fredericksburg, is hereby changed to “Mary
Washington College”. The State normal and industrial school for
women at Radford shall hereafter be called “the State teachers college
it Radford”. Provided, however, that the State board of education
s hereby authorized and empowered, in its discretion to change the
ames of the State teachers colleges at Farmville and Radford if, as
ind when these institutions make application to the State board for
such change.
