Chap. 66.—An ACT to authorize, empower and direct the Governor for and
on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to convey to the United States
of America, without consideration, all the right, title and interest of the
Commonwealth in and to a certain tract of land situated in Rappahannock
County and adjoining the Shenandoah National Park, and to prescribe the
respective jurisdiction and powers of the United States and the Common-
wealth of Virginia thereover. [S B 5]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Governor of Virginia be, and he is hereby authorized, empowered
and directed in the name and on behalf of the Commonwealth of
Virginia to convey, by proper deed, to the United States of America,
without consideration, all of the right, title and interest of the Com-
monwealth of Virginia, in and to a certain tract of land situated in
Piedmont magisterial district, Rappahannock county, Virginia, on the
top and south slope of Pig Nut Mountain, adjoining the Shenandoah
National Park, and more particularly described as follows:
Beginning at a sassafras, the corner of the lands of William Baker
and the United States; thence north eighty-two degrees west twenty-
one and six-tenths chains to a dogwood; thence with the lands of the
United States south five degrees east thirty-nine chains, south seven-
teen degrees west thirty chains, south fifty-four degrees thirty
minutes west ten and five-tenths chains, south sixty-six degrees east
twenty-one chains, north seventy-one degrees thirty minutes east eight-
een and eight-tenths chains, north thirty degrees thirty minutes west
five and eight-tenths chains, north sixty-two degrees west five and
nine-tenths chains, north seventy-two degrees west six and two-tenths
chains, north four degrees east twenty-three and eight-tenths chains,
north twenty-three degrees east fourteen chains, north twelve degrees
thirty minutes east twenty-seven and six-tenths chains, to the begin-
ning, containing one hundred twenty-two and five-tenths acres; grant-
ing to the United States and reserving to the Commonwealth of Vir-
ginia the respective jurisdictions and powers as provided in section
nineteen-a of the Code of Virginia, as enacted by chapter three hundred
and eighty-two of the Acts of Assembly of nineteen hundred and
thirty-six.
2. An emergency existing in order to add to the acreage of the
Shenandoah National Park, this act shall be in force from its pas-
sage.
