Chap. 5.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 4503 of the Code of Virginia,
in relation to punishment for bribing, or offering to bribe commissioners,
auditors, arbitrators, umpires or jurors. [H B 74]

I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That sec-
tion forty-five hundred and three of the Code of Virginia, be amended
and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 4503. If any person give, or offer, or promise to give, any
money or other thing of value, to a commissioner appointed by a court,
auditor, arbitrator, umpire, or jurer (although not impaneled), with
intent to bias his opinion or influence his decision in relation to any
matter in which he is acting or is to act, or if any such commissioner,
auditor, arbitrator, umpire, or juror, corruptly take or receive such
money or other thing, he shall be confined in the penitentiary not less
than one year nor more than five years, or confined in jail not less
than six months nor more than twelve months, and fined not exceed-
ing five hundred dollars, either or both, in the discretion of the court
or jury trying the case.
