Chap. 42.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 638 of the Code of Virginia
as heretofore amended, authorizing the school boards of counties, cities and
towns to borrow from the literary fund. [S B 20]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
six hundred and thirty-eight of the Code of Virginia, as heretofore
amended, be amended and re-enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 638. The School Boards of the several counties, cities and
towns operating as separate school districts in this State are hereby
authorized to borrow money belonging to the said Literary Fund, and
the School Board of the county, city or town desiring to borrow a part

tion for such loan on a form to be prescribed by the State Board of
ISducation. Where application is made by the School Board of a town
operating as a separate school district the form of application and other
proceedings shall conform as nearly as may be to the requirements of
law with respect to applications by School Boards of cities and counties.
2. Anemergency existing this act shall be in force from its passage.
