Chap. 284.—An ACT for the relief of Willie Brown, Josephus Brown, and the
estate of Patrick Henry Brown. [S B 203]

Whereas, on May eleventh, nineteen hundred and thirty-seven, one
Willie Brown of Amelia county was driving a truck on route six
hundred and forty of the State highway system, accompanied by his
sons, Patrick Henry Brown and Josephus Brown, and
Whereas, in crossing Buckskin Creek, the bridge over said Creek
collapsed, and as the result thereof Willie Brown sustained several
broken ribs, Josephus Brown suffered a broken leg and Patrick Henry
Brown was killed, through no fault of their own; and
Whereas, it appears that said bridge must have been in a weakened
condition that should have been discovered and remedied by the State
Highway Commission through its agents and employees, now, there-
fore,
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
Comptroller be and he is hereby, authorized to issue a warrant in
favor of Willie Brown and a warrant in favor of Josephus Brown for
the sum of one hundred and fifty dollars each, and a warrant in
favor of the estate of Patrick Henry Brown for the sum of seven
hundred dollars, and the Treasurer of Virginia is hereby authorized to
pay the same out of funds appropriated to the State Highway Com-
mission for the maintenance of State highways.
