Chap. 271.—An ACT to abolish the office of superintendent of the poor in
the county of Mathews, to transfer the Glebe Funds of the said county
held by the said superintendent of the poor to the county treasurer, and
to provide how such funds shall be held and administered. [fH B 543]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
office of superintendent of the poor of Mathews county be, and the
same is hereby abolished as of June thirtieth, nineteen hundred and
thirty-eight. All money or property, including notes, bonds or other
evidences of indebtedness, constituting the “Glebe Fund” of the county
of Mathews and held in trust by the said superintendent for the bene-
fit of the poor of the said county, shall, on or before June thirtieth,
nineteen hundred and thirty-eight, be transferred and delivered by
the said superintendent to the treasurer of Mathews county, and placed
by the said treasurer in a separate fund to be held by him and admin-
istered under the direction of the board of supervisors of Mathews
county for the benefit of the poor of the said county, in conformity
with the laws of Virginia applicable to Glebe funds and with the
provisions of law relating to county treasurers.
