CHAP. 258.—An ACT to authorize the council of the City of Williamsburg and
the board of supervisors of the County of James City, to convey or lease
_to Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated, its successors and assigns, certain
property owned by the said city and county. [H B 416]

Whereas the city of Williamsburg and the county of James City
ire now the owners of a certain parcel of land in the city of Williams-
urg, Virginia, bounded on the east by England street, on the south
y Ireland street, on the west by the property now or formerly of
Nilliamsburg Restoration, Incorporated, and on the north by property
ow or formerly of Williamsburg Restoration, Incorporated, and Fran-
is street, as more fully described in a deed dated December twenty-
rst, nineteen hundred and thirty-one, between Williamsburg Holding

ity, recorded January nineteenth, nineteen hundred and thirty-two,

Whereas in said deed the city of Williamsburg and county ot
ames City covenanted and agreed to maintain a parking space on
he southerly end of said parcel of land in good and safe condition
ind as far as possible in harmony with the landscaping of the grounds
urrounding said court house and jail; and |
Whereas, Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated, desires to acquire
ind to maintain the said parking space; and
Whereas, Williamsburg Restoration, Incorporated (the name of
vhich was formerly Williamsburg Holding Corporation) is willing
o agree that a conveyance or lease of said southerly end of said
yarcel of land to Colonial Williamsburg, Incorporated, shall not be
Jeemed a violation of the terms, conditions, restrictions, covenants and
greements in the said deed ;
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That the
council of the city of Williamsburg and the board of supervisors of
the county of James City, be, and they are, hereby authorized and
smpowered to transfer, assign and convey or lease to Colonial Wil-
liamsburg, Incorporated, its successors and assigns forever, the south-
erly end of said parcel of land. ,
For use as a public parking space which shall be maintained in
vood and safe condition as far as possible in harmony with the land-
scaping of the grounds surrounding the said court house and jail ex-
cept that such limitation on the use of the property shall not preclude
the construction and maintenance by the grantee, its successors and
assigns, of a road running westerly from South England street along
the north side of the property so transferred, assigned and conveyed,
or leased. 2 ,
