Chap. 241.——An ACT to create a commission for the purpose of procuring, trans-
porting, and exhibiting the products and natural resources of Virginia at
the Golden Gate International Exposition, San Francisco, California in 1939;
to prescribe the powers and duties of the said commission. [S B 257]
Approved March 26, 1938
1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That for
the purpose of exhibiting the recreational and vacational attractions,
arts, industries, agriculture, institutions, natural resources, historic
shrines and general development of this State at the Golden Gate
International Exposition, to be held at San Francisco, California, in
1939. The Governor shall appoint a commission of nine members,
one of whom shall be designated as chairman, to be known as the
Virginia Commission to the Golden Gate International Exposition.
2. The Commission shall be vested with the authority to prepare,
nstall, maintain and finance an exhibit at said Exposition, and to
epresent this State and its citizens in all matters relating to State
articipation.
3. To finance the State participation and exhibit, the Commission
s authorized to obtain and receive gifts of cash and materials from
ndividuals, firms, organizations and from any other sources. An
udited report of all receipts and expenditures shall be furnished the
state Treasurer by the Commission at the close of the Exposition.
3ut nothing herein contained shall create any charge or expense on
he State Treasury.
4. It shall be the duty of all departments of the State Govern-
ment to cooperate with the Commission by supplying Mirotmau
‘deas and materials that will be of assistance in enabling the Commis-
sion to make an outstanding exhibit for the State.
5. The members of the Commission shall receive no compensation
for their services, but their actual expenses incurred in the performance
of their necessary duties in carrying out the provisions of this act
shall be paid from the funds as provided in section three of this act.
