Chap. 208.—An ACT to authorize the State Hospital Board and the Governor
of Virginia to sell and convey from time to time, on behalf of the Common-
wealth of Virginia, all or any part of the property of the Eastern State
Hospital in the city of Williamsburg, and property of the Eastern State
Hospital within three-fourths of a mile of the city of Williamsburg and to
use the money received from such sale in the purchase of certain lands in
James City county, and in the construction of such buildings and plant and
the purchase of such equipment as may be necessary for the use of such
Hospital; and to authorize the said board to accept and use gifts and
bequests made in connection with the proposed transfer of the plant from
the city of Williamsburg. [S B 144]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, as follows:
Section 1. The Governor of Virginia and the State Hospital
Board be, and they are hereby, jointly authorized and empowered
from time to time, on behalf of the Commonwealth of Virginia, to
sell, transfer and convey upon such terms and conditions as to them
may seem best, all right, title and interest of the Eastern State Hos-
pital and of the Commonwealth of Virginia, in and to any land or
lands, buildings, structures, and equipment of the Eastern State Hos-
pital, or any part thereof within the corporate limits of the city of
Williamsburg, and within three-fourths of a mile of the city of Wil-
liamsburg. Any such conveyance hereby authorized shall be by proper
deed or deeds, in the name of the Commonwealth of Virginia, signed
and executed by the Governor and Secretary of the Commonwealth,
under the lesser seal of the Commonwealth, and in the name of the
Eastern State Hospital, signed and executed by the Chairman of the
said State Hospital Board, and by such other person or persons as
may be designated by the Board for the purpose.
Section 2. All moneys received from the sale of such property
shall be paid into the State treasury to the credit of the said State
Hospital Board, and are hereby appropriated to the said Board and
the said Board is hereby authorized to use the same in the purchase
of:other land or lands contiguous or adjacent to the present Dunbar
Farm unit of the Eastern State Hospital in James City county, and
in the construction on the said Dunbar Farm tract and adjacent lands
of such buildings, structures and plant as may be necessary for the
use of the said Hospital and for the necessary equipment thereof.
All’ money hereby appropriated shall be expended upon warrants of
the Comptroller issued upon vouchers signed by the Chairman of
the said Board, or such other person or persons as may be designated
by the Board for the purpose.
Section 3. The said Board is further authorized and empowered
to accept any gift, donation or bequest made to the said Hospital in
connection with the proposed transfer of its plant to the said Dunbar
Farm area, and to use the same as prescribed by the donor, or for the
purposes set out herein. All such money so received shall be paid
into the State treasury and expended in the manner hereinabove pro-
vided.
