Chap. 49.—An ACT to amend and re-enact Section 13, as heretofore amended,
of an act entitled, “An act to provide a new charter for the town of Front
Royal, Warren County, Virginia, and to repeal all acts or parts of acts in
conflict herewith,” approved March 11, 1916, relating to taxes and licenses.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That section
thirteen of an act entitled, “an act to provide a new charter for the
town of Front Royal, Warren county, Virginia, and to repeal all acts
or parts of acts in conflict herewith,’ approved March eleventh, nine-
teen hundred and sixteen, as heretofore amended, be amended and re-
enacted so as to read as follows:
Section 13. Taxes, Levies and Licenses.—The said council shall
have authority to levy such taxes, levies and licenses permitted by the
general laws of the Commonwealth, as it now possesses, and, except as
herein otherwise provided, the said council shall have all of the rights
and authority as it may possess at the time this act goes into effect; and
shall also have authority to impose license taxes on persons, firms and
corporations engaged in or pursuing any trade, business, profession,
occupation, employment or calling within the boundaries of said town,
whether any license tax be imposed thereon by the State or not, except
in cases where the imposition of a license tax is prohibited by
general law.
