Chap. 291.—An ACT to release the United States of America, and any contractor
therefor or agent thereof, from any and all claims for damages to the oyster
and other public interests of the Commonwealth of Virginia by reason of the
dredging and maintenance, by the United States or any such contractor or
agent of, including the deposit of material in connection with, a navigable
channel in and from Back river into and in Wallace creek, Elizabeth City
county, Virginia. [H B 302]

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Virginia, That in the
event that the United States of America shall dredge a navigable
channel in and from Back river into and in Wallace creek, Elizabeth
City county, Virginia, the Commonwealth of Virginia will and doth
hereby release the said United States of America, and any contractor
for or agent of the United States of America engaged in such work,
from all claims for damages to the oyster or other public interests
belonging to the State that may result from the prosecution of said
work, including any deposit, in adjacent open water, of material
dredged in connection with the initial creation and future maintenance
of the said channel.
2. An emergency existing, this act shall be in force from its
passage.
